Built by the youth, for the youth.

Traditional mental health systems often speak over young people. They rely on clinical jargon that creates an immediate barrier. SAYMHA actively dismantles that barrier. We recognize that modern youth carry profound burdens, ranging from extreme academic pressure to complex societal expectations.

We approach mental health not as a weakness to be hidden, but as a critical component of human potential. We meet learners in their own spaces and speak in their own language.

Our Story

SAYMHA is an organization fundamentally dedicated to elevating the mental health narrative for high school learners across South Africa.

Rooted in lived experience.

SAYMHA was not established in a corporate boardroom. The organization was founded by Ofentse Mohloke, drawing heavily on his roots in Soshanguve and his rigorous academic background at the University of Cape Town.

We base our intervention strategies on the philosophy of mind. This means we do not view mental health struggles as mere clinical deficits. Instead, we view young minds as highly capable systems navigating complex environments. We believe in providing learners with the philosophical and practical frameworks needed to process their environments effectively.

By combining high-level academic theory with grounded, relatable peer support, SAYMHA ensures that our methodologies are both intellectually robust and highly accessible to the youth.
